Harbor hosted a webinar on the intersection of Smart Buildings and Distributed Energy on June 24th, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. MST.

Our panel of experts examined:

  • The market drivers and trends that will lead to adoption
  • How we can use technology and more innovative ways of thinking to better plan smart buildings projects
  • How companies should approach these projects and what they need to get started

The ~45 minute webinar was followed by a 15-minute Q&A.


John Petze is a partner and Co-Founder at SkyFoundry, the developers of SkySpark™, an analytics platform for smart device and equipment data. John has over 30 years of experience in automation, energy management and M2M/IoT, having served in senior level positions for manufacturers of hardware and software products. He also acts as  Executive Director of, an open source, 501C trade association focusing on standards and technology to make device data interoperable.

Shana Longo LEED AP, is Marketing Manager at Legrand. Shana has ten years of corporate sustainability and government affairs experience. She’s conducted extensive research on the evolution of the High Performance Building market and the variety of performance mechanisms available to building owners (LEED, WELL, LBC).

Shana has presented at Congressional briefings, the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, and the International Sustainable Cities Congress in Costa Rica. Currently, Shana is the XaaS Technology Manager for Legrand’s Building Control System Division charged with developing a data-driven services product offering.

For the past 3 years, Shana has led Legrand’s High Performance Building Committee, managing a corporate-wide initiative to understand how the electrical industry plays a role in sustainable and well-being building design. She resides in Loveland, Colorado, and is an avid reader, writer, and indoor cyclist.

Shana attended American University in Washington, DC, and graduated with a Dual Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Policy. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Biomimicry at Arizona State University.


Anto Budiardjo is CEO of Anto is a fractional entrepreneur, spending his time with technology companies in and around the Internet of Things. As a creative entrepreneur, Anto has extensive experience working with product creation, customer development, product positioning, strategic marketing as well as technical functions including product and software development. Anto excels in working with complex multi-stakeholder systems, explicitly identifying customer challenges, reducing complexities to expose fundamental and core problems, and envisioning features and value propositions of technology offerings.


Glen Allmendinger is the president and founder of Harbor Research and has been responsible for managing all of Harbor’s consulting and research activities since its inception. Glen has worked with a very broad range of leading technology innovators, product OEMs, and service providers assisting them with strategy and market development for new smart product, systems, and services opportunities. He has participated in pioneering research and consulting work in the Smart Buildings, Healthcare, Retail, Transportation, Energy and Industrial arenas helping clients to determine the scale and structure of emerging opportunities, competitive positioning, and design of new business models.

In 2005, Glen co-authored the pioneering article “Four Strategies for The Age Of Smart Services,” published in the Harvard Business Review. Glen has also authored thought leading articles for a wide range of publications including, The Economist and The Wall Street Journal, as well as being a frequent speaker in industry forums.

Our moderator, Eoghan Jennings, is VP of Business Development at Harbor Research. He has a rich background in finance, beginning his career at Credit Suisse. As CFO of Xing AG he co-led the IPO team and led XINGs five acquisitions. XING became the best performing IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange throughout 2007 and 2008. Eoghan served as managing partner of Parklane Capital.

Eoghan co-founded two successful accelerators, Startup Bootcamp and HealthXL, both headquartered in Europe. There he attracted the participation of rising startup companies and raised funding from investors and multinational corporations, including Silicon Valley Bank, IBM, Novartis, GSK and RB.

Eoghan co-founded Bourbon, a content creator for music fans, and The Foundation For a Better Economy, a foundation advocating for financial change. He helped define and drive Fathym’s market and product strategy, bringing the team together and leading virtual design and brainstorm sprints.
