Harbor's clients fall into three basic categories: Automation and
Control, IT and Communications, and Pervasive Technologies.
These categories reflect the firm’s development over time. We began in
1983 as specialists in computing, control, and embedded systems. Then,
from the late 1980s through the 1990s, we developed deep domain
expertise in networking and communications.
Finally, our understanding of those two domains led us to our early
focus on emergent, disruptive technologies and opportunities, such as
pervasive computing and cluster/grid computing, among others. Harbor’s
history uniquely positions us for expertise in these new technology
growth areas. We take a comprehensive view of them, both horizontally
and vertically.
Automation and Control Harbor’s
origins in automation, control, and embedded systems have left us with
many valued, long-term client relationships in those businesses.
Our experience includes strategic work with companies in home
networking, building control, industrial automation, energy systems and
management, and automotive. Partial client list:

Pervasive Technologies Our experience has led us quite naturally to the convergence of
the IP network, connected devices, and machine-to-machine (M2M)
communications and control—the phenomenon we call “the Pervasive
Internet.” We were among the very first firms to focus exclusively on
this world-changing phenomenon, and we believe we are the only firm
offering a comprehensive view of it, from the horizontal technologies
to their vertical market applications and adoption.
Our experience includes strategic work with companies involved in
design automation software, real-time operating systems and embedded
software, enterprise data management, Internet applications, Internet
knowledge management and tools, Internet e-commerce, media and
services, and related software and infrastructure. Partial client list:
