Job Description – Consultant and Project Manager

Harbor Research is currently seeking a Consultant to help lead our strategy consulting practice in Boulder, CO. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated consultant with experience in market and technology research, preferably in a consulting firm, industry analyst firm, or market research firm environment.

The Consultant, will act as the primary point of contact on projects and team lead to drive projects to their successful completion. Our projects and consulting engagements cover a wide range of topics including go-to-market strategies, product portfolio analysis, customer use cases and segmentation, competitive analysis and environmental scans.

Responsibilities                  

The engagement lead will support our project work by:

  • Serving as project manager and managing team of analysts and consultants to deliver the project work on time and within budget
  • Ensure high quality delivery and provide content leadership
  • Utilize strong communication skills including the ability to command a strong audience
  • Structure ill-defined problems, develop and apply frameworks, create new tools and methodologies, and develop recommendations for clients
  • Lead multi-level teams and foster a teaching and learning environment by formally and informally mentoring research analyst staff members
  • Research and monitor select emerging technology companies to support Harbor’s research covering the Internet of Things space
  • Contribute actively to content, publications and program development
  • Balance multiple work stream simultaneously within a challenging and demanding environment

Qualifications

At a minimum, we expect the ideal candidate to possess the following experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience with a technology strategy consulting firm or industry analyst firm
  • BS or BA from top-tier university
  • Demonstrate creative, research and analytical skills. Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to think strategically and identify critical business issues
  • Independently structure, write and present well – organized and persuasive outputs
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, experience with InDesign is a plus
  • Commitment to quality, an intellectual curiosity and a high degree of initiative and self-governance
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and lead in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment – both virtually and in-person
  • Background and demonstrated interest in technology-driven arenas

Job Description – Research Analyst

Harbor Research is currently seeking a Research Analyst to join our research practice in Boulder, CO. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated analyst with experience in market and technology research, preferably in a consulting firm, industry analyst firm, or market research firm environment.

As a member of our research team, the Research Analyst will play a key role in achieving our quantitative modeling goals, while also working with analysts and consultants to develop critical industry insights in support of ongoing research projects and client engagements. Our research projects and consulting engagements cover a wide range of topics including go-to-market strategies, product portfolio analysis, customer use cases and segmentation, competitive analysis and environmental scans.

Responsibilities                  

The Research Analyst will be expected to support our project work and;

  • Manage, update and continuously improve the internal Smart Systems market forecast model
  • Conduct complex analysis, synthesize large volumes of data, and develop unique insights and actionable recommendations for client projects
  • Assist with the development, design and authoring of white papers, industry reports and various publications around emerging technologies
  • Perform online secondary research, conduct interviews with clients and industry experts, and evaluate and analyze information from industry research
  • Track and profile emerging technology companies
  • Support senior staff with contributions to content, publications and program development
  • Balance multiple work streams simultaneously within a challenging and demanding environment

Qualifications

At a minimum, we expect the ideal candidate to possess the following experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience with a technology industry analyst or market research firm
  • BS or BA from top-tier university
  • Demonstrated creative fact finding and research skills, including telephone interviewing skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, experience with InDesign is a plus
  • Commitment to quality, an intellectual curiosity, and a high degree of initiative and self-governance
  • Proven ability and passion for writing
  • Strong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts, both accurately and concisely
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment – both virtually and in-person
